Some mood music for writing and reading.
Trois Gymnopedies, Erik Satie – Ah, Gymnopedies my beloved. There truly is no piece of classical music that can captivate you with emptiness like the the Gymnopedies. The best way to accurately describe how these pieces make me feel is as if I’m floating on the last chunk of earth in space, knowing I’m destined for a long and agonizing death. You can kinda see how I put that into my article.
Pokemon HGSS (Heart Gold Soul Silver) National Park theme – This is one of those pieces of music that can elicit an ungodly amount of emotions within me. It’s the pure feeling of resonance, nostalgia, regret, bittersweetness; it’s almost like an epilogue to something. And all this from the Gameboy!
The Calm Before the Storm, DMDOKURO – Funny story, first time I listened to this, my first reaction was abhorrence. Knowing what DMDOKURO used to do for calamity, I thought to myself: “Seriously? This is the best that they can do?”. That was a few years ago. Now when I listen to this song, I can feel how special it is. It’s sentimental in a way, both a representation of the bridge between calamity terraria’s pre-hardmode and hardmode, and a break from the stress the calamity project was causing DMDOKURO. It’s a good song to reflect to.
Honorable mention
Gusty Garden Galaxy (High Pitched) – Man, this whole video is the reason I actually decided to make the final push in making this article a reality. The music itself is special to me, but not entirely the reason I made this. The reason comes from one of the comments, which said:
This should actually be titled: Heavenly Angel Galaxy. 😇🌎🗻🐇💐🌌🌟🌙💙
This actually brought me to a really old dream I had when I was young as hell, where I dreamt I’d lived through Super Mario Galaxy myself, and had ended the story at a place that was similar to the article itself. Just a floating island over the void. I still feel nostalgic from that memory, and have been seeking to replicate that feeling ever since, which, I’ve done now.
This only gets an honourable mention because it’s not the original song, and the circumstances that led this to being here are extremely vague. It also wasn’t the only thing that prompted me to make this. The music for this, which I made myself, came before me deciding to write this. I just decided I wanted to put it into this due to the sentimental feelings it made me feel when composing it, so I just put it into this article, who’s entire purpose is to make you feel sentimental, as if you’re standing amidst a graveyard of people you never knew.
Anyways, special thanks to YellowISlol and SnomWriting for when this conversation happened back when we were writing the greenlight policy that gave me the whole inspiration to put my own music in The Backrooms:
